Kanika Washington, M. Ed., MCD, CCC-SLP, is a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (in Texas) with expertise in treating children ages 1 to 21 years with varying language, articulation, and fluency disorders in the clinic, home health, school, and teletherapy settings, as well as experience treating adults with various speech, language, and cognition disorders in a skilled nursing facility. Additionally, Kanika has seven years of teaching experience at the middle and high school levels. She has taught English, Journalism, and college prep courses and holds a Texas and South Carolina educator license.
Kanika is a graduate of Hampton University (2002) with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Arts. She earned a Master of Education from Cambridge College (2005) and a Master in Communication Disorders from the University of South Carolina (2020).
Kanika’s areas of specific clinical training and interest include: cognitive-linguistic disorders, executive dysfunction, literacy disorders, pragmatic language impairments, and language-based learning disabilities. In addition, Kanika treats adult neurogenic speech and language disorders. Kanika also maintains her clinical competencies in all speech and language development areas through ongoing continuing education.
Kanika lives in San Antonio with her husband, daughter, and two sons. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, staying active, and traveling. Kanika strives to make a difference in the lives of the individuals she works with and those closest to them.
